Plans

Today has been a whirlwind, but we wanted to post a brief update with funeral plans:

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church, 301 N. Woodrow Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 4:00 pm at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church followed by a burial at Wake Chapel Church.

We cannot thank everyone enough for the tremendous outpouring of love and support. Dad will write more as soon as he is able. We love you all.

We mourn and rejoice with you. It brings Heaven so much nearer now, does it not? She is in such good company. Blessed assurance.

I wish I could be there during the seeing and memorial, but I have no way back up to the creek until Sat. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am sorry for your the loss of Ms. Talley but greatful that she is now at rest. Ms. Talley was my son Brandon's first grade teacher at Coats Elementary School. She was truly a blessing in his life. He remembers that she went the extra mile to teach him to read and keep him on grade level. Your wife has inspired many children and she will be missed. She is at peace now with her Lord and in pain no more. You will see her again one day.

I am just a dumb sheep

I have learned so much by the people around me. I am so lucky to be discipled by such wonderful women. Some are younger than me and some are older than me, but their impact is equally great. I have a mentor that is so very sick but still her faith in the Lord is astounding. She may think differently because she is so humble and modest. She has handled earth-shaking news with grace and faithfulness. She has taught me to treasure my time on this earth. It really is a vapor. I have learned that our lives are not ours but the Lords, and whatever his will is it will most definitely be done. We can either butt against it with stubbornness and selfish pride or we can embrace it whole-heartedly for the Lord only has our best interests in mind. As I sat with her at her bedside (with tears of joy and at the same time tears of sadness running down my face), I read the 23 Psalm to her. These words are not meant to be our last words to each other but beginning words of renewal, hope and happiness. We are merely dumb sheep wondering aimlessly looking for our Shepard. Oh, we are so very lucky that we have a wonderful Shepard that so tenderly cares for us. When I read those verses to her and took them in as my own, I stopped looking at her as a victim, and began looking at this beautiful lady as a precious lamb. I love you Linda and I pray without ceasing that Jesus' hands will heal you completely.
